Watersports in the British Virgin Islands

The waters of the British Virgin Islands are made for play. Steady trade winds, calm anchorages, and an abundance of toys onboard most charter yachts mean you can be paddleboarding at breakfast, kiteboarding by lunch, and waterskiing into the sunset, all from the same boat.

From Your Yacht

Most BVI charter yachts come equipped with paddleboards, kayaks, snorkel gear, and floating water toys. Many also carry windsurfers, kiteboards, water skis, wakeboards, and seabobs, each offering a different way to use the bay you’re anchored in.

Tell us your group’s preferences when planning, and we’ll match you with a yacht equipped accordingly. Some carry tow tubes and inflatable slides for families, others lean towards the more adventurous end with kitesurfing kit and freediving gear.

Wind & Wave

Anegada and the windward side of Tortola are reliable kite and windsurfing spots, with steady trades and shallow water that suits all levels. Cane Garden Bay and Trellis Bay see regular sailing dinghy and small-boat racing, with classes you can join.

For something more leisurely, paddleboarding at sunrise in a quiet anchorage is one of the BVI’s simple pleasures.
